Spotlight on: Hope and Vision Communities

This week is Small Charity Week (22–29 June 2026) and we’re taking the opportunity to shine a light on the amazing work being done by some of Gloucestershire’s small charities.

Today we’re taking a look at Hope and Vision Communities (https://www.hopeandvision.org.uk/) who are running a Coaster Challenge competition until Friday 17 July 2026.

You can join their Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/940873625498726/

Tell us a bit about Hope and Vision Communities

Hope and Vision Communities is a grassroots charity (1191323) that supports individuals as they transition from residential rehabilitation to independent, substance-free living. We were set up in 2020 by a Tony, a former drug user and Peter, the judge who jailed him.

We offer long term accommodation to people, providing small homes, as part of a wider community of support.

Since opening our first community in Reading, five years ago, we have grown to nine homes supporting 21 residents.

What's next for Hope and Vision Communities?

We are in the process of establishing a community in Malvern....and here in Gloucester we are opening our first ever women's community. We know that there just isn't enough safe accomodation for women in recovery, so we are really excited to be part of meeting that need.

Tell us about your coaster design competition

We are opening a new women’s community in Gloucester, creating a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment for women to recover, connect and build community. As we prepare to open, we want you to get involved!

We are designing some coasters to go in the first home, and we would love your help!

Objective

Design a coaster that represents one or all of the following:

  • Strength

  • Recovery

  • Community

The design should feel welcoming, uplifting, and suitable for everyday use within the house.

Design Requirements

Colours: Should work well with a warm, calm, and inclusive interior environment

  • Creativity and originality

  • Relevance to the theme

  • Visual impact

  • Practicality for production

How to enter

Please send your design by email to Hannah@hopeandvision.org.uk by midday on Friday 17th July. Please tell us about the idea behind the design.

What are your main challenges at present?

Like many charities, top of our worry list is funding. It is a tough time at the moment, with costs increasing and so much competetion for funding. We are only five years old, but already we have seen the impact of our work, and have some incredible stories from some of the people we have supported, we know our work really does transform lives.
