  • Be A Good Neighbour logo

    Be A Good Neighbour

Be A Good Neighbour is based on the principle of the well-known story of the Good Samaritan, where a man looks after another man very different to him on the side of the road, teaching us that we are to show compassion and love for those we encounter in our everyday activities. We are to love others regardless of their age, race, or social status; the criteria for love is that they are in need. If they have need and we can help, then we are to give generously and freely, without expectation of return.
Be a Good Neighbour is about helping each other to help each other.

Be a Good Neighbour is a support service to adults, teenagers and children. We look to see long-lasting change brought about in the lives of those we help and support through kindness and a listening ear, signposting, practical help and walking someone through a crisis. We support those in need of help in the local community and beyond.

We will also provide help and support to your group, company and organisation to work for the good of the people in your community. We will give you advice and help with planning and enable you as churches, charities, organisations and companies, to learn and see the needs of the community. We will help you implement a plan to bring about long-lasting change for the future.

Gloucestershire Resource Centre (GRC)’s objectives are to encourage participation in creative activities, enrich play experiences and to promote re-use. This is done through its Scrapstore project by making available interesting, unusual, low-cost resources that promote re-use and re-thinking around the term ‘waste’ and reduce financial barriers to creativity, making it accessible to all.

We collect non-hazardous waste from businesses across Gloucestershire that would usually be destined for landfill or incineration. We sort and process these materials (with help and support from our 20 volunteers) and then make them available in our Scrapstore warehouse for our members to use.

We have around 1,000 members accessing these materials for use in arts, play and wellbeing, including individuals, families, community groups, churches, schools, artists, DIY-ers and crafters.

  • The Nelson Trust logo

    The Nelson Trust

The Nelson Trust vision is a society where trauma, addiction and disadvantage never limit potential. We believe that people are not defined by the challenges they experience, but by the strengths, aspirations and possibilities they hold. Trauma, addiction, multiple unmet need and disadvantage too often restrict opportunity, wellbeing and inclusion whilst also having a detrimental affect on mental health. We aim to ensure these experiences do not determine negative outcomes.

Our mission: walking alongside people as they heal, recover and thrive. We work in partnership with people, recognising that meaningful change happens through trusted relationships, consistency, and a true understanding of lived experience. Our approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based and women-centred, focusing on long-term healing, recovery, wellbeing and independence.

We have been operational for 14 years and trained over thirty wounded, injured and sick (WIS) veterans to complete their commercial pilot qualifications. We have a 100% success rate in achieving employment for veterans participating in our scheme. Our veterans are categorised as vulnerable, being statistically more likely to experience both social issues such as housing difficulties and unemployment.

Wings for Warriors, through providing training to commercial pilot status, assists veterans to make a holistic recovery after a life-changing injury or illness. We focus on our veterans achieving long-term physical, psychological and economic outcomes and the programme is a resounding success.

  • Young Gloucestershire logo

    Young Gloucestershire

Young Gloucestershire (YG) is a Gloucestershire-based charity that has been proudly supporting young people (aged 11-25) for over 80 years. Our vision is for all young people to have the confidence, motivation and skills to take control of their lives and shape a positive future. In 2024/25, we helped 5,199 children, young people and families, which is a 53% increase since 2021/22. Demand for our support continues to grow, as more young people are left without the help they need from overstretched services.

The young people we work with face difficult and complex challenges. The modern harms young people face include, mental health, struggling at school, out of work, or living in difficult family situations. Some have been involved in crime, experienced trauma, or are at risk of harm. We support them through 36 different projects, all designed from what young people tell us they need and what works for them. This includes one-to-one support, group work, counselling, help for families, and work in schools and communities. Our support reaches those who are often overlooked by other services, or who struggle to engage with more conventional forms of support, and Young Gloucestershire plays a vital role in ensuring that no young person falls through the gaps of provision.
