Learn more about community energy, local opportunities for collaboration, and how they can help ensure our future energy security.
The time to discuss community energy is certainly now.
It's clear that community-led energy will be integral to improving our energy security and guarding against further price shocks and geopolitical uncertainty. Community energy will also be a key element to our transition to net zero. In addition, community energy also gives people a genuine stake in the energy system, and produces genuine community benefits retained in local places. There is now real momentum - with the creation of GB Energy, and with national government committing £1 billion to a Local Power Plan. That Plan also makes it clear that there is a role for local government to support the proliferation of community energy.
This event will offer the opportunity for representatives from local government and our existing community energy organisations to come together, along with further experts and stakeholders to:
Gain a greater understanding of what community energy is
Learn more about local collaboartive opportunities
Explore how greater partnership between Local Authorities and community energy organisations could work in practice
