All Aboard Gloucestershire
A route onto a board
Could you help shape the future of a Gloucestershire organisation?
Board members help organisations make decisions, oversee their work and stay true to their purpose. You might bring experience from your career, knowledge of your community, lived experience, or simply a commitment to a cause that matters to you.
All Aboard Gloucestershire will help you explore whether a board role is right for you and find an organisation where you could make a difference.
How it works
Take part in two training sessions. Take part in training on what charity trustees and company directors do, the responsibilities they share and the differences between roles. Learn how to read the financial information a board uses and what questions to ask. You do not need to be a finance expert.
See a board in action. Should you wish to, we will arrange an opportunity for you to shadow a board meeting with a participating organisation, followed by a chance to reflect on what you observed.
Explore a match. We will help you identify board opportunities that fit your interests, skills and availability. You and the organisation can then decide whether the role is a good fit. Each organisation makes its own appointments.
Who is it for?
All Aboard is for people interested in becoming a trustee or director of a voluntary, community or social enterprise organisation in Gloucestershire. You may be considering your first board role or looking to bring your experience to a different kind of organisation.
Boards benefit from a wider range of perspectives. We particularly welcome interest from people who have not previously seen a board role as something for them.
