Our autumn programme of training events launched!

We are delighted to announce that our new event training programme for September to November is now available to book with 28 courses designed to support the VCSE sector across Gloucestershire.

Cate Hemingway, Head of Learning and Development, said: “Developing the new training programme has been a really collaborative process. Through consultations, conversations and listening carefully to staff across the sector, we have been able to understand what people need, what would support them in their roles, and where we can add the most value.

“It is important to us that we deliver training that reflects the needs and priorities of our members, not simply what we think people want, but what people have told us they need.

“We are creating a programme that responds to the challenges and opportunities faced by the VCSE sector, providing practical support, expert guidance and new approaches to fundraising.”

Topics are broad ranging from fundraising support, leadership and social media through to EDI(B) and cyber security and AI with new areas such as property leases and how to maintain professional boundaries in a trauma-informed way.

“Our aspiration is to provide the best possible training opportunities and work with high-quality providers who can support the VCSE sector to grow, develop and thrive”

With funding so crucial for charities, Cate added: “Our aim is to empower organisations to strengthen their income streams and continue delivering vital services for communities across Gloucestershire.”

Cyber security and AI workshops will be delivered by the National Cyber Security Centre, a part of GCHQ based in Cheltenham, and will help organisations understand the opportunities and risks, use technology safely, and build digital confidence for the future.

Passionate about EDI(B) and founder of the Inclusive Allies Network, Cate is also delighted to have SENStory delivering a set of workshops on inclusion.

Jo McMeechan started the CIC in South Gloucestershire to reduce the barriers for access to support, therapy, leisure and learning for SEN children after her own experiences. As a result, SENStory works to ‘change the narrative of the inclusion journey’.

Cate reflected: “Having the right training experts delivering our Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging EDI(B) programme is essential to ensuring the VCSE sector in Gloucestershire receives learning that is meaningful, practical and impactful.

“EDI(B) is a complex and evolving area, and it is important that our training is informed by specialist knowledge, lived experience and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing organisations and our sector today.
