Part of the Trustee Masterclass series.
Most of the million trustees across the UK are committed, thoughtful and hardworking individuals. But even with the best intentions, things can sometimes go wrong. So where are the common pressure points, and how can trustees avoid costly missteps?
Small oversights or misunderstandings can, over time, weaken governance, strain relationships or create risks for the organisation. But many mistakes are preventable if we know what to look out for.
This workshop explores the most common mistakes trustees make and why they happen. We’ll examine common pitfalls such as boundaries between governance and management, board dynamics and decision-making, and consider practical steps to strengthen board effectiveness.
The workshop is open to all trustees. Other kinds of board and committee members from third sector organisations are also welcome.
The session will be delivered by Penny Wilson, an expert in governance and trustee development.
